Eczema Can Affect Your Scalp, Here Is What You Should Do
Eczema is a state where parts of your skin
become inflamed, itchy, red, cracked, and rough. It can also affect the scalp
it may sometimes be seborrheic dermatitis, which people also refer to as dandruff.
Eczema in scalp causes patches of skin to become
red, flaky, and itchy. It can further affect other oily areas of the body, such
as the face, nose, eyebrows, and eyelids.
Your ear canal can also be affected; it may
result in the discharge of fluid from the ear. The color of the skin can also
change in the affected area, even after it has healed. The itchy rash can
produce an oozing, crusting condition on the skin that happens mainly on the
face and scalp, however, the patches can be seen anywhere. You choose a shampoo
or hair care oil that is most effective against your scalp eczema. It should
contain one or more of the ingredients like zinc pyrithione, salicylic acid,
selenium sulfide, ketoconazole, coal tar.
Take note that coal tar may darken lighter hair
colors. It can also make your scalp more sensitive to the sun, so wear a hat
when outside.
Once eczema has cleared, you may be able to cut
back to using the dandruff shampoo just once or twice a week.
